Los Angeles Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals – 8/8/19 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction
The Los Angeles Chargers go on the road to take on the Arizona Cardinals in their Week one NFL Preseason matchup.
The Chargers come into this season with high hopes after finishing 12-4 and winning a playoff game. Philip Rivers is back and looking to continue his storied career. The big news swirling around the Chargers this season concerns Melvin Gordon who is holding out hoping for a better contract before the games start to count.
The Chargers defense dealt with a lot of injuries last season and will need to improve here in the preseason and especially when the games actually start to count.
The Arizona Cardinals were the worst team I the league last season and were rewarded for it with the number one pick. First year head coach Kliff Kingsbury will be out to make a name for himself and got to hand pick his QB of the future with the #1 pick in the draft. Kyler Murray is being saddled with the task of reviving the worst franchise in the NFL and we will see soon what the shortest number one pick in history can do.
This game will feature almost exclusively players from the end of the bench. The Chargers will likely have Easton Stick and Cardale Jones playing the bulk of their QB minutes as Tyrod Taylor and Philip Rivers are veterans that don’t need many meaningless preseason snaps. Arizona will have Brett Hundley and Charles Kanoff under center and with that overall list I don’t see a ton of offense coming in this one.
Take the Cardinals in this one as they have a lot to prove here in the preseason with a new coach trying to establish a new culture and a ton of spots up for grabs on the roster.
